Dental insurance is insurance designed to pay a portion of the costs associated with dental care and may also include orthodontia benefits. The most common types of dental insurance plans are Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), Indemnity plans or Dental Health Maintenance Organizations (DHMO).
PPO Plans provide payment for dental treatment received by the covered individual on a traditional fee-for-service basis. For some dental procedures (such as preventive dental care) the payment made by the carrier might be in full. For other types of dental services, it is commonplace that these types of plans will cover between 50 and 80 percent of the cost of treatment. You get a much better benefit if you stay in the network.
These plans do not use a network so that you have the same benefit at any dentist. This gives the client complete freedom of choice. We have both group and individual dental plans available.
Actually, this type of dental benefits program technically isn't dental at all. When you see these types of products marketed, their advertising will specifically make the point that the program is a "dental plan" as opposed to "dental insurance." They are discount plans that may also have no cost cleanings and exams. You must stay in the network.
